Hi all :) ,

Hi recently purchased a Ross .22 and I thought it was a Bubbaed one. But now I looked the thread from artygnr

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?823690-Ross-Rifle-Stock-Replacement

and his wasn't cut but a commercial sporster version. Since mine have a similar wood I thought maybe some expert can enlighten me on mine

Bubba or not, 100$ or more value ? ( not for sale, pls don't ask :)

History ?

Thanks a million to all CGNers ( Smellie have a golden seat on that :) )

I would have to say that your rifle has been cut down. The reason for this is that the cut on the forestock goes well into the checkering. A commercial rifle would have a blank space between the end of the checkering and the end of the forestock. The end of the forestock on the Cadet was a "schnabel" type and seemed to be a bit thinner and a was bit less height in the wood at the fore-end tip..

From what I can see the sling looks like it MIGHT be one of the original Ross slings and is probably worth more than the rifle to the right person. Also, the rear sight has not been dicked with and had a grove cut in it for the nearsighted (which is a good thing)

Wow ! it sures look very old, it could be .

Thank Buffdog for the input ! , not a holy grail then :(

Worst case scenario I didn't lose money to buy this one, but I didn't add any real value to my collection. Well at least, it's a ROSS !

Sure you did! Its a Ross, you've added all kinds of class to it. I think if you paid $100 you did very well. I'd pay that.

I believe this to be a Commercial Ross .22 which has had the original Forestock shortened slightly.

NOT a common little rifle at all.

AND with the original sling?

BEAUTIFUL dark wood. Rumanian, by any chance?

I have NO idea as to dollar value, just know that I can't possibly afford one!

A Prize, I think.
