Hi guy’s. I came across this little rifle a couple of weeks ago and i just snag it because i like colecting milsurp. My collection is more centered around WW2 rifles, but i taught it might be cool to have my older son fire this particular rifle as his first experience with a real firearm. Anyway, i want to know from you guys what do you think of it. Does it seems complete? How does it worth on the current market? The bore is very good and it fire and eject as it should. There is no rust anywhere and the rear sight adjustment work fine.

Agree with the no high velocity ammo part.

Go to armycadethistory.com and you may be able to trace the use of your rifle over the years. I was able to identify all four of the Cadet Corps my rifle was issued to.

Your rifle looks to be complete and original, well done.
 
Very nice find! I have both the Commercial and the military ones and like the military ones best. They are usually the most beat up but have a traceable history and it is all part of their story. Note that your rifle does not have the sight hood but there is no rhyme or reason to which ones did and did not. They were sold with a little sight hood or without one, and they were easily bent. I have seen several of the cadet corps issue Ross rifles without and suspect either some were ordered without one or else they were bent and cut off in service.

High velocity ammo will put undue wear and tear on these rifles, much like shooting +P 38 in a revolver designed before +P was invented. If you want to shoot high velocity ammo in your 100+ year old rifle for which parts are not available then go for it. These rifles were designed for stand velocity (approx. 1000 fps) ammo, not for high velocity (1200 to 1400 fps) ammo. Most "regular" .22 on the store shelves is high velocity. You have to look a bit and read the labels to find standard velocity, at least around where I live.

They can be had for $300 at the very low end and I have seen them fetch 500. Prices seem all over on these.
 
Thanks for you guys for all your inputs. I am very pleased with it. I found some standard velocity CCI ammo for it and i might stick with thoses. I don’t plan shooting it a lot anyway. It does not auto eject, i must have said that it extract as it should in my OP. The bolt must be retracted manually for the spent case to eject.
