Could anyone post pictures of a Ross Mk III handguard showing the spring clips and pin attachment? It has been suggested that a Ross handguard could be made from Lee Enfield #1 Mk III handguards, but they are hard to find too.

Ross handguard

You need a guard from a No.4 Lee-Enfield which is very common, especially a smooth one (no lines or serations). Readily available on eBAY etc and worth about $10.Make sure to get a walnut example. You'll need a member to tell you the exact length of an original Ross guard. I'm off to work at the moment, but could measure one of mine later. My buddy fabricated one for his MKIII last year and it looked great.

Thank you very much for the suggestion Longbranch and Cantom for the photographs and measurements. I have a source for #4 handguard. Are the pins steel with an enlarged head counterbored into the stock and turned smaller and riveted on the srings? Hard to tell in photos.

Two different top handguards for the MkIII's- early one had flush/proud rivets; later style was countersunk-
Talquin- you need to be more specific where MkII's are concerned- I can pull out at least six or seven different types of MkII top-wood- both one and two-piece.
If it's for a short MkII, you need to specify which of the four different sights are fitted. If it's for a MkII** (long barrel) the early ones used two pieces, and the later ones used one piece, very similar to the MkIII's
