Hello all you milsurp enthusiasts!..I think this is my first post on the Milsurp forum.

I just aquired an M-10 Ross rifle, my very first experience with these. I have followed the bolt disassembly guide posted here and have re-assembled the bolt. All the checks check and I'm confident I've got it together right.

My question... where the two parts of the bolt thread together, on my rifle the threads in the outer bolt body are virtually non-existent. The threads on the inner piece are quite pronounced, but the outer ones are almost smooth to the point that the inner piece will slip into the outer without having to turn it.

Is this normal? Is it a serious problem? If it's abnormal, what to do about it?

Thanks for any help,
Hugh

You should be fine, when i insert bolt body in the bolt sleeve in mine, i just need to turn it a bit from left to right and right to left until is seated completetly. If you made all check like in the disassembly thread, no problem you are safe:)

Hello Hugh .. :)

You might want to read and save this for future reference...

There's an outstanding article by "PerversPépère", on Ross M-10 Rifle Bolt Disassembly (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/content.php?r=298-Ross-M-10-Rifle-Bolt-Disassembly and the dangers of doing it incorrectly. It may be found under the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/content.php...esearch-for-milsurp-collectors-and-re-loaders forum of the Milsurp Knowledge Libraries.

Thanks doug. I have read that article as well as the one posted here by svt1940, and found them both to be very helpful.
