Picked up a Ross Mk 1 today to go with the Mk11 and Mk 111. Neat old rifle with interesting designs and very different from the 2 later marks. My question is the the rifle was taken out of service and used for Drill Purpose for 3 Different cadet corps. The Corps numbers are 1272 C.C., 985 C.C. and A25 C.C. respectively. Does anyone know how to ascertain the whereabouts of these old Cadet Corps, some of which are probably no longer around??
the old M&D marks are stamped through, probably after it was withdrawn from Militia service and it is then stamped D.P. and then the 3 different Cadet Corps markings. There used to be a Cadet Corp history page online but I think its now gone. Anyway, looking for any ideas on these marks. Thanks fellas.

Cheers, LASTMAG

Anyone with knowledge of Ross Markings???

Well, I did about an hour of research for you through the Internet and some very old books I have, but I can't find anything on these Cadet Corps markings. Maybe someone else here with more early Ross experience will turn up something.

As far as the regular Ross butt markings goes, I wasn't sure if you needed help with those. If so, they're pretty straight forward, so if you post a focused pic taken closer to the butt than the current one, I bet a whole raft of folks here can help you with that one.

Badger

I'll see if a list of old CC numbers can be obtained through the cadet organization. My BSA Martini is CC1606, and it would be interesting to see which corps used it.
