Hi Everyone...

I think I might have a line on reproduction nose caps for the Ross MkIII... and I'm putting this out there to try judge interest if I have more than one made... trying to see how many of you would want one (price depending of course)...

I'll have more info on prices soon I hope... and they would probably take a few months from order to delivery...

If there's lots of interest... I'll order more than just one for me...

There is a resale market for all Ross parts that were removed in sporterizing efforts. Look at the reaction in one day.
 
Yep, me too. I looked into tooling some up at the beginning of the summer and they quoted me t $380/cap until I got to 2000 nosecaps..... Please be less than that :p
 
initial contact has a guess of less than $100... I have to get some measurements... and should have a real answer tomorrow or wednesday...

Would that be the early stamped caps or the later forged ones?

Screws included?

R cast into bottom to show they're repros?

Interesting indeed, but highly price dependant.
 
I would imagine that this is all possible...

Does anyone have a screw they could measure with a caliper... length... thread... width of the head... etc...

I'll add that info to the measurements of the cap I have... it's a forged one... I'll be sending it for them to copy.

So I finally have a "quote" on the nose caps that is significantly higher than I was initially led to believe...

<5 nose caps will be $225 each
>5 will be $180 each...

Plus shipping...

That's a little too rich for my blood...

Does anyone else know someone who can machine these? I have one that can be copied...

Sorry to get everyone's hopes up...

Are these cast or machined.
 
Yep - sounds about like my estimate too. Did they give you the song and dance about having to broach it?

I've been looking at making them by hand, which is entirely possible in my situation. Would take a load of finishing work though.

The guy that has an enfield/ross table at all the local gunshows and has 2 Ross Sniper rifles told me he looked into having them made but he balked at the $50.00 cost for each one.

Maybe he neglected to say the number before the 50... If you see him again get the thumbscrews out and press for more info on his estimates.

I know him and I know that if it was $50 we'd be up to our knees in them.

Another problem is, with Rosses there are so many different variants and models...one style cap won't do it.
