Ross Mk III Repro Nose Caps

Gentlemen- a small dose of reality is required here- to "stretch" a Bubbaross will at best result in a dog's dinner, which will never again be original, no matter how well the work is done. As the object seems to be to produce "close to original" why not just use an available MkII stamped nosecap and open out the barrel hole? The same basic nosecap was used on MkIII's until mid-1915, with the only real change being the crossbolt.
If someone wanted to do that too, a simple chunk of wood whittled to fit inside as a backstop would work, then centrepunch on both sides and drill the hole. Round off the bolt-head, cut to length, and cold-blue. A lot less than several hundred Kretchens for something that isn't original anyway...

And I still have a few of the Mk. II nosecaps left along with the bands.... :)##
As "Rossguy" said, just open up the hole and as they say "Bob's your uncle".
Why re-invent the wheel and pay dearly for it.

Ehh, I like the milled ones. That's my thing I guess... if I'm going to go through all the effort of finding a nice ross, finding the rest of the parts, stretching the wood back out, I may as well put the nose cap I want on there.
