I have a ROSS with a 20" barrel and sporter stock. I'm wondering what mount I should be looking for 2 piece? The front may take the 98 base, contour should be close, the rear will have to be something with a flat bottom??? I'm guessing on this and could use any suggestions, I'm sure someone out there has scoped one of these.
Thanks.

Your best option is probably an older steel one piece base like a Redfield with turn in rings. Rear leg would have to be modified to sit on the seat the sight bridge screws to over the bolt release catch. Folks used to mill flat the top of the sight base after taking off the sight, but that's not smart now. That would give you something that looks decent. A couple of Weaver bases screwed on might work, but would look crappy.

Better make sure you don't have a factory sporter before you get the drill out.

Whatever you do is going to require a bit of creative gunsmithing.
A one piece mount, adapted as necessary to engage the rear bridge would be worth looking at.
Two piece bases can be adapted, and don't look too bad.
If it came to it, a blank one piece rail could be adapted and fitted. Brownells lists blanks.

Thanks guys. 1 CGNer gave me the correct base #s. The scope is mounted and I've had it to the range. Of course being a ROSS it is very accurate.
Varget and Sierra 150gr do the job. I may leave the fancy rifles at home this coming fall.
Take care.
