Ross MK3 Bolt assembly binding problem

I have a new to me Ross MKIII that has the bolt rivet in place and the rifle works.

The rifle was desperately dirty and tons of grease. I stripped it down to the bolt. I had some issue dissembling the bolt. After removing the sear the two main parts of the bolt that are supposed to rotate apart would bind and I had to put a lot of hand force to get it to come apart. Nothing looks wrong with the teeth and I cleaned everything up inside and out.

My problem is that it now binds when I am trying to put it back together. I know it can go together at least two ways, one wrong and one not. I do know how to tell when it's together correctly but I don't want to force it at the point where it binds.

Anyone have any experience with this issue?

Regards,
Kevin

MKIII with the rivets can only be assembled in one way. The rivet is the upgrade that prevents the bolt from being assembled incorrectly.

Unfortunately its been quite a while since I've assembled a ross bolt, if I remember correctly its a huge pain and a 3 handed affair. There is a good thread on the milsurps forum you can get to by googling Ross M10 bolt disassembly. Do your best to follow the process in reverse.

I've removed the pin and the problem is solved. Works a charm. On the inside the rivet didn't form correctly on the inside. The inside of the rivet was rectangular in shape and touching one of the teeth. I bet when the rivet was put in place they didn't have to disassemble the bolt and therefore this issue was never seen.

Yes, thanks, I watched a lot of videos on the rife and was familiar with the issue before owning it. It's dead easy to assemble it wrong but also dead easy to tell if it is wrong.
