Hi

So I'm trying to get the front sight off my Ross...

I have taken the sight hood off... the blade and front screw... and have tapped out the pin...

And it won't budge!

I've tried tapping the sight base with a piece of wood as a punch.... but no good...

Any suggestions?

My front sight pulling rig is now on its way to BC. It has travelled around the country quite a bit.
It has a brass piece that goes into the muzzle to protect the barrel, a collar that clamps around the barrel behind the rear sight, and a bearing puller. There is also a brass jig to drive the sight base back onto the barrel without doing any harm.

Yes ebruder, don't do anything till you have Tiriaq's rig in hand. It makes it easy and non injurious to your irreplacable parts. You'll have to pay shipping. Maybe the guy in BC will pay shipping to you instead of to Tiriaq if you're lucky.
I posted a thread on how to do this.

BTW, that Ross Mk III that was for sale the other day and sold on the EE had the front sight base on backwards! He'll need it too! :)

Looks easy enough!

Maybe I'll ask to borrow it later... I have to start and finish the stock extension first... then I'll need to get the base off to get the nose cap on... I wonder why they'd design the rifle to be so difficult... you have to take a sight off to get the stock on... Oh well!!!
