Ross re-barrel help

I picked up a couple of mk3 rosses recently, one has a full length barrel but bubba took the grinder to the receiver, and the other one has a good receiver and a cut down barrel. I plan on putting the full Length barrel on the good receiver to start a restoration project. My question is, how are the barrels held in place? Is it torqued or is there a screw holding them?

Secondly, on the already bubba'd receiver, I plan on drilling and tapping to mount some optics with the sporter barrel to turn it into a deer gun so it won't go to waste. Where is the best place to drill and tap and what kind of mount should I use?

Mk. III rifles have a right hand thread. They are not the easiest barrel to remove; they are torqued in tight. Proper tools are needed.
You are on your own for scope bases. You will probably have to adapt existing bases. A flat bottomed base can be installed on the rear sight bridge. Note that the receiver ring is eccentric, not cylindrical.

The receiver ring is perfectly cylindrical and not eccentric, though it does have the bump on the right hand side. Otherwise the top surface and left side are perfectly concentric with the threads and bore.
