I found a Ross Rifle bayonet today while cleaning out a barn. The hilt is marked 11 and 12/15. The other side of the hilt is marked RRR .. The scabbard
socket has many markings as well: I 3, 473 - 2 - 17 (scabbard does not match the bayonet?). All I can figure out is it was made 12/15, and surmise the RRR may mean Royal Regina Rifles? Not sure about that because it apparently belonged to a fellow that enlisted in eastern Ontario, but so many variables on that including the story.... Any input from someone in the know would be greatly appreciated.

Showed the bayonet the man I was working for and he said it belonged to a relative that served with the CEF in WW1 (William Shaver). He was grateful I found it, so I took it home and cleaned it with some 0000 steel wool / oil. I found Williams Shavers' Recruitment form online, and it turns out he was a distant relative of mine as well, of all things.
