ROSS rifle - Where is the serial # located

The Ross model 10s that I have do not have a serial number. When you register them the CFC will send you a sticker with a number.

Serial numbers were stamped on the buttstock, sometimes removed during re-finishing by heavy sanding.

Does the # on the end of the bolt signify anything? ie 480 over G0

Annnnd what happens if that serial ## is smearing off?

On Cdn service Ross on right side of butt.
On commercial rifles left side of barrel ahead of receiver.
On British contract MkIIIB left side of receiver ring.

And as mentionned, if the stock has been sanded, a sticky will be supplied. Sometimes you will find a number that has been stamped on the receiver ring at some time in the past, have seen a couple like that.
