Newbie?

Well, Big Poppy, from your question I guess you are where most of us were some years ago. Welcome! ;)
If you could furnish us with some pics and, if possible, detailed close-ups of the firearm, I'm pretty sure you will get many interesting answers, some to questions you'd never think you could ask about the various Ross rifles.
If you don't know how to post these, just PM me and I'll see that your pics find a way to this thread.
You know, there are several very knowledgeable members around, just waiting for details to open their personal registries.
Give them meat on the bone and you'll get more answers than you possibly bargained for...
But beware: collecting Ross rifles can be a very frustrating and sometimes costly hobby...
PP.:)

^^^Well done PP, civility as opposed to sarcasm.

+1

It's hard to stay civil when countless people come here, time and again, and ask how much their rifles are worth without so much as a picture or detailed description. What can they honestly expect in return?

Brownie points for PP though... :D

If you're not sure you'll be really focusing on the Ross to collect and want to spend a lot less than $100 for some basic information, there's a small publication available for $11.25 you can look for:

CANADA ROSS RIFLES MILITARY & SPORTING VERSIONS (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=125

If you order on-line, make sure you ask for your member's 5% discount...

You can also usually find this book at gun shows, so you might want to check them as well.

I found it useful when I was initially interested in the Ross, but when I got more serious, I bought The Ross Rifle Story.

Hope this helps ... :)

Regards,
Badger
