Good Day CGN,

I am thinking about getting a Ross Rifle. I want a full wood mil issue look. I want to find out what kind of price range I would be getting into, and if were to get a sportorized one with an uncut barrel, how hard would it be to find a full wood stock set? All help is much appreciated

From what i saw,a full wood Ross usually sell for $1000-$1500+, depend of condition and if the stock is an original or a repro. Spares parts to restore a sporterized Ross can be extremely hard to find, particulary the nose cap. Ross experts will came in for more infos.

Prices have been rising steadily. A really nice as issued Mk. III rifle is going to be north of a grand, maybe way north.
A sported one with uncut barrel might be had for $150 - $250, depending.
Replacement stock set? Good luck. There have been repros made. The nosecap will be very hard to locate.
If a sported rifle still has the middle band in place, the stock can have new wood spliced, with the joint under the band. There will still be the problem of finding the nosecap.

I've been collecting Rosses for a number of years. Haven't bought a service rifle in ages; prices make me light headed.
Factory sporting rifles, particularly "R" models - the least expensive originally - can be still purchased at reasonable prices. "E"s, M-10s and the early sporters will be more costly.

Nosecaps are a holy grail. If someone figured out a way to make a good run of reproduction nosecaps and front sight hoods I bet they would have no troubles recouping their money input. I'd pay a handsome sum for a MkI nosecap right now!

Most of the original military rifles can be a little ruff and pricey you might want to get a sporter model with a nice wood stock. They shoot great. The guy I bought my ross from didn't even shoot it. Just a collectable. Mine is in great shape in a sporter stock. Great shooter. They have a heavy barrel compared to a mosin or other European rifles. Shoots great.
