I have been working at putting together a modest collection of Rosses for several years now.
The number of unmolested service rifles that turn up for sale is quite limited. Prices have been rising.
Service rifles in superior condition are quite uncommon.
At the recent Orangeville show there was a II***** which would have been a decent one, apart from the missing buttplate, and the fact that some mindless twit had sanded the stock. The markings were sort of visible, and oiling would have made it look better, but the mt had really spoiled its collector appeal. Ask was $400.
The III on Bob's table was $600, IIRC. I didn't inspect it.
