Well when this gun went from non-restricted to restricted handgun, I just had to make into a shorter handgun. I have not shot it in this configuration yet, but it will shoot 3" magnum slugs. Barrel was 18" and is now 8".
Here is what it looked like before.

And now after. Ouch!!!

I don't think you could pay me enough to shoot that with full power slugs
I'm also guessing youre reddot goes kapoot in short order.
This is how I had it for awhile before I cut it down and this tasco reddot has had over 100 slugs and birdshot with no problems. So the only thing different now is a shorter barrel and of course this NCstar reddot which I have not tried yet.

What was the reaction of the CFC to the alteration?
I had to wait 3 months for an answer, but I finally got the OK from firearms technician Mike Bartlet ext. 1005. He said as long as it is not cut 4" and under that I was good to go, since it is classified as a restricted handgun.

Ouch indeed... give us a mini-report when you get a chance to use it, i'd like to see what kind of spread that gives with buckshot.

I had the blued version. Nice compact and light SG.
I sold it before it got re-classified and glad I did...but I like what you did to yours!
If I kept mine I'd do the same but my range(s) only allows 00buck or slugs:eek:

I just thought of this now...I thought if you cut a barrel yourself PAST 18" your gun is now prohib. I figured that it would still count for a restricted? If not the loop hole seems to be to get an aftermarket barrel and/or pistol grip short enough to be restricted THEN from there you can cut a barrel as short as you want as long as its 4.2" or longer.

Correct?

^^^ I think it is because the reclassification made it a "handgun" (based on receiver) and no longer a shotgun, so the 18" rule went out the window

you can put a 6" aftermarket barrel on an 870 and a pistol grip, and then you have a restricted shotgun

I do plan on shooting my own lyman 575gr sabot slugs out of it. Should be hilarious. Everytime I bring it to the range everyone wants to try it, well we will see if they want to shoot it now. I get a kick out of watching others shoot it and now will only be that more hilarious. I may even let em try some 3" slugsLaugh2
