I had a Rossi .357 rifle follow me home from Frontier on Friday. It has a case-hardened colored receiver. Does anybody else have one like this? Any opinions? Should make a good gopher gun.:p

I have a Rossi .357, like it a lot. Not a "serious" hunting rifle but pure fun. I've used mine to shoot beavers, grouse, and lots of tin cans and targets.

Took mine out this afternoon and fired 4 shots of handload .357. Killed a tree.:p
Of course, I nearly fell over frontwards, expecting a big recoil. I can see where this rifle will get used in gopher control this summer!!

I've always wanted one in lever or pump. Some day I may treat myself. Sounds like a lot of fun, and I'd enjoy shooting reloads for about 15 cents a shot.

I have had Repro 1866, 1873 and two original 1892's and a Stainless Rossi 1892 in 357. The Rossi was easily my favourite. Light, quick, smooth and can handle 38's when I feel I felt like shooting mouse fart loads and saving some coin.

You will have a hoot and a half with it.

Enjoy.

Matt

I have the .357 Rossi 1892 lever with saddlering. Nice gun, accurate, low recoil. I'm in the market for a kit I heard about that smooths out the action, as well as shortening the lever throw for quicker follow-up shots.
