So I am on the market for a decent lever gun but am in the budget range of about $1000. I want a pistol caliber, something Reasonably cheap too shoot. I stumbled upon the Rossi m92 .357 and it was a decent price was just wondering if anybody has one and the good and. Bad things about it thanks guys ! Worth the $750?

If one is into tinkering on their rifles, Rossi's are a dandy platform to work with at the price point for a new '92 action'd rifle. Sights are usually the first items to be swapped out along with an action smoothing & "lawyer safety" remove, followed by a lighter ejector spring and metal magazine follower. Folks not fond of the wood tend to swap out the stocks for aftermarket goodies as well.

I love the Rossi's that I've worked with and still own as they are a good functioning, good looking & reliable rifle for folks that are into them. My ones shoot/shot straight with my loads in chamberings from .357 to .454 Casull.
:)

My .44 mag 92 is a dream. One suggestion for the .357/.38 is to get the magazine tube liner, it apparently improves feeding. I believe they still use the same magazine tube for all calibers and the .357's sometimes get kinked a bit in it.

They're pretty sweet guns, though some are better than others. Some people say they get lemons, others say they need to finish the gun up themselves and others get flawless guns. Apparently as of late, they're a lot better.

However, for a grand you're in Winchester made in Japan territory, which are flawless guns if you don't mind some modern touches like a tang safety and a rebounding hammer. I have two in 44 rem mag and they're wonderful.

Mine was almost perfect right out of the box. I took off the semi-buckhorn rear sight and installed a Lyman recover sight. That's it. I really like it.
I've had two more in .44 magnum, still have one, like it a lot too. The other was good, went to a friend. I am currently struggling a bit with a Marlin 1894 .44 mag that is not built quite as well as the Rossis in my opinion.

Bought a used one that had been slicked up and a skinner sight added. It's very good

I need to source a shorter front sight for it, however, as with my reloads the back sight is almost screwed right out.

Anyone got a recommendation for sourcing sights short of knocking it off and taking it to the Parts Guy at the local gun show?

I have a stainless 20" barreled model in 454 Casull that is super nice feeds everything from 45 Colt to 405gr WFNGC 454 Casull loads.

So I decided that one of these rifles would work well for my now 9 year old sons rifle = I recently bought a Trapper 16" barreled 44mag for $600 shipped for him I even installed a shortened butt stock to fit him it is one slick/handy little gun except it jams up almost every time we try to chamber a round in it.

Now I get to mess around trying to fix it.

Hayya CC, do a thread on the mess around trying to fix it thing.
Lottsa photos and step by step whuttcha dun.
Might proof to be worhtwhile fer the rest of us.
