Just wondering what these are like from a quality side, I have never owned one for that matter my first time seeing one, anyone have any experience I just picked it up and. Not sure if it's a keeper.

Cheers

A person at the club owned one. The parts are interchangable with an original Winchester just like a Norinco m305 with a m14 except Rossi reproduction parts are better in fit and finish. This gent also had a mixed parts rifle and if he didn't tell me, I couldn't have guessed. On all accounts, Rossi do make good rifles. Might be good to hang on to as a shooter and not so much a safe queen (IMO).

Yours is the short version which is handy and a bit less common, and it's chromed which is also a bit less common.
Not a bad score for your first Rossi pump I'd say.

Not as many parts interchange between Winchester and Rossi as rumors would suggest . I have both . A few parts fit without issue , some can be made to fit , others aren't even close .

I owned a carbine like yours for a short period of time, only blued. Functioned perfectly, but tube mags just aren't my thing. I also got a little nervous about spare parts availability, in spite of the fact that mine was in like-new condition and needed nothing. It was a gun I'd wanted for a very long time.

I've had one (blue) for thirty years. It will be one of the last to go. Totally reliable, easy to stow. Upgrades: an EER scope, hairpin to hold mag loaded, surgical tubing as safety catch for tube mag - it can fall out if not under tension.

Taurus/Rossi used to make a folding tang sight for them and a forward mounting rail that replaces the rear sight.
The sights are a bit crude but they work, I generally prefer bead sights over the square style but that's personal.

I've put well over 40 thousand rnds thru mine. It's not a tack driver but it'll bounce a coke can around the farm. The reciever on mind has turned a plum color but the rest of the gun is mint. Never had an issue that was gun related. It shoots everything from cb long to stingers and mini mags
Somehow a girl I was we'll say dating somehow managed to load a hollow point backwards in the tube
I love the gun. I'd sit on my tailgate in the drive and plink for hours. The lane way shined like a golden road

This!

It's not intended to be a target rifle. My Anschutz rifles are for that purpose.

I find mine very reliable with copper coated bullets but does not like to feed lead bullets.

It always fires and is accurate enough for tin cans or small varmints at 50yrds with the factory sights.

The receiver on mine has also turned plum coloured. Actually I have seen this occur on other guns and believe it to be due to different metallurgy of various parts reacting to the bluing over time?

[Tube mags are not exactly my thing either, but this rifle and my little Belgian Browing auto will stay in the collection until the bitter end.]

I like the old ‘Amadeo Rossi’ 92 rifles without the pigtail safety that were made before Br#####h bought them out.
The Rossi 92s made for ‘Navy Arms’ were top quality and had real walnut instead of Brazilian jungle wood stocks and didn’t have the lawyer pigtail safety on the bolt or that stupid trigger lock gizmo that comes installed on the new Br#####h R92s.
Word is the new ones are junk the manufacturer won’t sell you parts for.

Made by Amadeo Rossi before the Br#####h buy out.
They’re good guns.

I have a older blued version in 22 wmr. It's no tack driver but it does fine . Just wish I could mount a scope without a side mount or scout .

My take is that these rifles are not intended to be scoped but rather for quick shooting out to 50yds at small varmints or tin cans or rabbits in brush with quick follow up shots if need be.

I had my old Rossi out this summer and was surprised at how well it and myself would shoot with open sights. I was shooting a six" round steel plate at 50yds and hitting it every time consistently until my old eyes got tired and blurry.

And to qualify mine is from the late 70s I believe and quality built with walnut stock. Got it from my old friend in the late 90s before he passed in 2000 and he bought it in the early 80s at a gun show used, but it looks almost like new.

If I wanted to mount a scope on one, I'd drill and tap the barrel and install a base.
Keep in mind that the front of the bolt lifts, and ejection is up - so the scope would have to be high enough for everything to clear. A compact reflex sight might be the ticket.
An aperture sight might be a better sight upgrade than a scope.

Not sure what year mine would be but it is probably the same vintage as yours..
I remember way back when rossi offered a side mount for this rifle that had one single ring for the scope.. I might still have one some where.. I just never liked a side mount and my eyes just are not good enough for iron sights any more.

Mine is old enough that my dad had it as a teen. He's late 60s now. Other than turning slightly purplish on the reciever its mint. Definitely not a tack driver. I could keep all shots on a 6" steel plate at 50 yards though. I'd prolly hit each corner though. Great gun. I use it to bring women into shooting. It's so small and tiny that think loose their fears of recoil and with cci quiets they don't need ear plugs.
It's one of my favorite guns to shoot

i love both of mine,,i have the regular length and the short carbine length, both older Amadeo Rossi's and in mint shape, very accurate, and a whole lot of fun.
