Rossi ranch hand full stock problems

Hello everyone
I have a Rossi ranch hand in 45 colt, I picked up a Rossi 92 stock for it thinking it would be a seamless fit. Well I was wrong and there is a small gap between the gun and stock.
Any ideas to solve the problem or suggestion on eBay stock will fit perfectly.

I drilled out and glued a piece of dowel rod into the original hole and let it dry. Drilled a new hole in the right position, just used a bench top drill press, nothing fancy.

Salem 84, the hole lines up fine right now. As the tang of the gun fits properly into the top slot of the stock. I think I might need to make the slot longer on the stock. Did you have to do that at all?

I may have, it has been a few years now, so I don’t remember everything I did to it lol. Whatever I did, I for sure had to move the hole location to make it work for my ranch hand.

They need to be fitted, at least every one I have ever seen (3) Smoke or put lipstick on the action and put it together and keep removing the colour on the stock till it fits. Trial and error.
