I just read a review on a gun site that they got 6 moa groups with a 44mag. Are they really that bad? I can't see it.

Now I'm reading their bore is .432 instead of .431 which is a real 44 mag. This was an issue on some of them, they're made for cast bullet shooting?

Lot of quality control issues; just check any gun forum.More of a problem for canadians as there are little or no parts or service here. Good gun for those who like to tinker or need a project or have abounding patience.

I've had no issues at all with my R 92 in .454.

I defiinitely would not classify it as something only for those who like to tinker. I've handled a handful and just own the one, but quality seems just fine to me.

Accuracy is negatively affected by the semi-buckhorn sights they come with. I hate those sights; I don't know why so many levers come with them.

My R92 will shoot an inch at 50 yards with open sights. That's the max I can shoot, even under pefect conditions, with those semi-buckhorns. I just installed a 4X scout scope on it so I can shoot farther, but have not sighted it in yet. But since I have done 1" @ 50 yards numerous times, I'm sure I'll do better than 6 MOA.

Honestly, I think if you installed similar buckhorn sights on a $5000 custom precision rifle, you'd still have a hard time consistently getting better than about 5 MOA at 100 yards.

Dont want to piss on nobody's parade but the Rossi and the new production Marlin are very low in the food chain, accuracy wise, spoil yourself and try a Henry BB, a Miraku Winny or even the Chiappa Skinner Trapper, those are accurate rifles... JP.

My pre safety rossi 44 will out shoot my 1970 marlin 44. I've had good luck accuracy wise with all the new remlins I've bought also. I could see 6 moa from a full stocked ranch hand maybe. I also hate the buckhorns.

My M92 trapper (16") in 44 rem mag shoots great.

Ive only bench shot at 25 yrds to sight in, but I have printed multiple one jagged hole 5 shoot groups. With it, and that is with the stock semi buckhorn sights.

My beef with the rossi is the way the factory drifts the front and rear site into the barrel. They dont fit them properly, so you'll find "bulged metal" around the dovetails on many of there rifles. They also cut the dovetails larger then N.American firearms makers. So its harder to find replacement sights (marbles sights work as far as I know)

Lately i tested the new 92 Chiappa Trapper Skinner in 44mag and it even shoot better than my 92 Henry BB 44mag, they made superb improvements to their rifles, my old 86 Chiappa was so so but the new ones (92) could be on top from now on... Times will tell... JP.

I'm a terrible shot with irons. Installed Skinner rear peep/ghost ring on my 44 mag Ranch hand along with a full stock. Popped of a few at 25 off a rest, worked ok for a bush gun.

My pre-safety one shoots easily better than my 1976 Marlin .44 mainly due to the fact that the old Marlins that we had were fitted with Micro Groove barrels. For a lead boolit shooter, these barrels would not perform properly with loads above 1400 fps. Jacketed bullets worked fine.

The newer ones have Ballard type rifling which works far better for lead projectiles as well as jacketed.:)
