Rossi Rio Grande issues

Anybody else had any issues with Rossi Rio Grande's jamming up? The problem seems to be when you go to close the action, the carrier hooks on the bottom edge of the round that's still in the magazine. Anybody have and suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks!

I had one in .45-70. It had all kinds of strange feeding antics. Finally took the entire gun apart and polished all bearing edges. The carrier likely has a machining burr on it. Being steel it will "stick" to brass like crazy. The loading gate should be removed and polished also. Mine took about 10 complete tear downs and reassembly and polishing before it was good. They work great they just need the rough worn off of the internals. Look for any shiny places and polish. I found that the sides of my carrier were rough and would not allow the carrier to completely relax on the closing stroke. Also the screw that the carrier pivots on was rough and also caused the carrier to lag. Don't give up with enough tweaking and polishing it will suddenly start working. Sad to say but that is how most new guns are being finished these days.

So I finally got around to taking it apart. On the front face of the carrier, where it slides across the base of the she'll, there was a tiny imperfection. It was all smooth except for a real thin ridge along the edge. Couldn't really see it, but you could feel it. Just enough to dig into the brass when the carrier tried to slide across it. Anyways, about 3 swipes with a file and a touch up with some emry cloth and she's good to go!
 
Magazine spring length/tension causes a fair bit of problems in this area as well. Most (read that as "all") manufacturers install a spring that is much longer than actually needed. Reducing the length to a more reasonable length will allow easier movement of the elevator as well as your thumb will thank you every time you have to push shells into the mag...it is much easier.
