hello guys i am in the market for a nice sinlge shot rifle. i have a gunsmith that can get me a rossi single shot 223 with sights for 240. theres also a a H&R single shot 223 with sights for 270. but its not in stock so i would have to order it. just woundering what the main differences between the two rifles are and which is the better built rifle.
thanks.

I have a N.E.F. Handi-Rifle, a Superlight in .223Remington for which I acquired an extra barrel in .308Winchester. I like it a lot, and I paid over $400 new for the Superlight. That was back before the Stevens 200 came out so it was the cheapest new rifle I could find then.

I've seen and handled the more recent Rossi but haven't fired one. I didn't see anything that led me to expect it to be better than the Handi-Rifle and I don't think I would choose it but I won't tell you you shouldn't. If I believed a gunsmith is good and he said the Rossi is good, that would make me more confident if I liked the gun anyway.

If you are close enough to Saskatoon and want try to arrange a meeting you can try out my Handi-Rifle to help you decide.
