I picked up one of those Norinco JW 105's, it's about as smooth as a bad joke at a feminist convention.

Anyways, I tried polishing some of the ugly factory gnar'd up surfaces with fine grit, and cycling the bolt with lapping compound till the blisters were ready to show on my palms, and the thing is still feels like a $325 chinese firearm :p any tips on how to really get something like this slicker the turkey snot?

I'm half debating filling it with lapping compound again and making something for my reciprocating saw to hold onto the bolt and then running it for twenty minutes, but the polished areas from the lapping compound still seem to be rough or grippy, I think it's 400 or 600 grit lapping compound.

would like to make it a little more "european" to operate the bolt.

Appreciate any helpful experience or insight, other then pointing out it is a chinese rifle, kinda got that part already.

Cheers!

Cody.

Lapping is your best bet. It just takes time. Your only removing microns with every pass. Go with a coarse paste and then move to fine. Wouldn't hurt to maybe use a dremel with a felt or even wood pad on it. I do a lot of fitting and lapping as a tool maker it just really takes time.

What kind of scope base fit on them, friend on mine brought me one to put a scope on,but I can't find the base on any chart.thank you.

It came with bases, not sure about any compatibility with other bases, I think it might be a copy of a CZ rimfire rifle design, so that might be a good place to start
