Hi everyone, I had a post a few days ago regarding a new Benelli R1 that wasn't ejecting properly. Well according to my gunsmith the chamber is rough and is holding the spent cartridge too tightly after firing. My question is, what is involved in fixing this problem, my gunsmith is very good and works for a prominent firearms dealer, but he is very busy and its much easier and faster to get answers this way. How does a gunsmith go about fixing a problem like this? could it affect accuracy? any answers would be helpful, thanks

Patrick

If this is a new gun, you shouldn't have to have a gunsmith repair it. This should be a warranty issue.
The chamber could be polished. This shouldn't affect accuracy, if done properly.

I understand that this is a warranty issue. But I am not too keen on sending this gun back to Benelli so close to the hunting season. If there isn't much work to do on the gun, I would rather have him do it. I am gathering that work such as this would not be so obvious that Benelli would be able to detect it, should the gun eventually go back to them, as I understand that having work done outside of a Benelli service provider would affect the warranty. I will exhaust local and timely solutions before I pack this gun up and ship it back. Thanks,

Patrick
