I have been discussing my future 6.5x47 Lapua rifle build with a few gunbuilders, and one of the gunbuilders asked me if I was interested in a 6.5x47Lapua rifle that one of his customers purchased from him a few years ago,but never got around to firing. The rifle is built on an RPA action and trigger assembly,a Robertson composite stock, and an RKS barrel. The rifle also comes with a second McPhee barrel in 308win.The price for the package is substantially less than the cost to build the rifle that I had spec'd out, even with the extra barrel.
I had not heard of RPA actions or triggers before,so I am looking for reviews, good or bad on RPA products.

RPA's are good actions, like any custom action they have their higher end "Quad-Lock" actions and then a lower end (but still better than any factory) action (2 lug I believe....might be 3 lug).

RPA triggers are 2 stage if I am not mistaken and are fully adjustable for pull weight, etc...

Rick Smith makes some dandy accurate barrels but I would question the McPhee barrel :D (just kidding on the McPhee.....he builds all my F-Class Rigs....LOL)

Both actions are four lug designs.

RPA actions are one of the most popular actions for the TR game. RPA's evolved from the early model called a Swing. Later change to Paramount, RPA 2000 and now just RPA. They make several different action the Quad-lock being the most popular and the Quad-lite they also make a repeater and I believe a .50 cal version. The RPA triggers are very good, I have one on my Musgrave.

Congrats on a great find. If assembled properly, you have some of the best parts in the business.

Just make sure the stock shape fits your tasks. Ian makes great stocks.

Enjoy a wonderful rig.

RPA Quadlock

My Quadlock requires way too much force to open the bolt even with starting loads. Does anyone know any ticks to ease bolt lift? The firing pin is not spring powered, it is a bellville washer stack drive. Trigger is easily adjusted to get away from that two stage nonsense. But it does shoot!

The load isn't the problem. The Quadlocks #### on opening and with 4 lugs it will be a little harder to open than something with 2 lugs. Make sure the back of the lugs and the primary extraction are kept greased.

Well I made a deal on the gun this morning. It is the RPA Quadlite repeater, with RPA trigger and safety, rail on the action,V-Bull bottom metal, ten shot mag,Robertson Composites tactical style stock with adjustable cheek piece and length of pull,RKS 26" barrel in 6.5x47L,a second McPhee barrel in 308win.The gun was assembled by Paul Reibin of Rangesports. The owner was asking $3500 for all, which I thought was very reasonable.Rangesports is also going to supply me with dies ,brass, and bullets for a good price,so now I just need to purchase a scope and rings.I am leaning towards a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-2-x50 at this time, but I haven't made up my mind.

Thanks everyone for your input on this thread, and on my other thread where I asked for help in selecting the chambering.

By the way,the person that I bought the rifle from has a second identical rifle in .223 for sale at the same price.
