I have a heavy contour 308 barrel by McPhee that is already chambered and threaded for my RPA action. What other actions will the threads match up with?I have no use for the 308win barrel, but I need to know what actions it could easily be fitted to.I do realize that the headspace would have to be checked and adjusted as necessary.

Can you measure the thread diameter and pitch?

Just checked the RPA website. Threads are 1 1/16 - 16. So is the Rem 700. But the shank is different. To adapt the barrel to an action other than the Quadlite would require machining.

Thanks,I just wanted to know if the barrel could be fitted without a great deal of work.It sounds like it's not a big deal for a gunsmith. It is a new barrel,so it is likely well worth the effort to fit it to an action. Now that I know what is involved,I will list it on the EE,and see if there is any interest.

RPA Shank diameter

RPA implemented a change in the shank diameter a few years ago to what they are now so barrels threaded for older Quadlocks and I think the 2000 will have a smaller shank that the new ones.
