I just received my RPAL in the mail today. :) I have had my PAL for about a year and have a few shotguns.

My question is do I have to be a member of a gun club that allows restricted guns before I can buy a pistol? I am going to join one I just haven’t got around to it as I didn’t have any restricted guns and am already member of the skeet and trap shooting club.

I know I have to be am member to get my ATT to use the gun but my understanding was I could buy one take it home then join the gun club and get my ATT. But calling the store they tell me I have to have the club membership first. Would he be correct? I have waited a long time for my RPAL I can wait longer. But was taking this Friday off for an extra-long weekend and wanted to do the 45 min drive to get a pistol.

You can only purchase a restricted for two purposes in New Brunswick. Collecting or target shooting. I am unsure what they will tell you if you say you are collecting. Perhaps you would have to prove the historical value of the glock or whatever. So if you say that you are buying it for target shooting the cfo will wait until it is legal for you to go target shooting with it buy joining a club.

The restigouche gun club is 80 bucks a year and will get an att for all the gun clubs in new brunswick.
