We have just received our RPAL's and are now ready to purchase our first Restricted firearms.
Do I need to register with the CFO first before I make a purchase for the ATT or is this done when I purchase the new firearm?

Depending where you are, in Ontario you don't need to register with club, just go ahead and buy what you want.

Congrats on the RPAL, check the rules for your province, most, not all require membership to a Range first before they will transfer ownership. If you do what i did which was buy out of province with an in store pick up you will still need a temp ATT to bring it home.

It took 45 days from the day they received my paperwork to get the RPAL. It would have been longer but I called them after 30 days to find that they could not get through to my reference. I got the file number and had my reference call them. It was completed that day and then we waited for the mail system.
I am already a member of a gun range so I wont have to join one. We are in Alberta but I am looking at a few different on line stores to make a purchase that are in Ontario and BC.

We are looking at purchasing a M&P 22 and a M&P 9mm. We have shot many hand guns with friends and my wife prefers the M&P that seem to have a softer recoil.
