Also when or if i do pass my rpal where could i buy a handgun in canada

to be honest its pretty much the same thing, the majority of the difference will be based on transportation of a restricted, (i.e obtaining an ATT) and then calibers and bullet types (i.e wadcutter, semi wadcutter, etc) and the practical will be the same as non restricted just with a handgun, you can ask as many questions as you want to get you through that part safely (where the slide release is located, where the safety is) if you haven't handled a handgun before

Those are really the only differences I seem to remember, its really pretty much the same though, if anyone else would like to chime in with some more tips!

If your in Manitoba you can call the archives and order the Canadian restricted firearms safety handbook. It cost me $10.00 but that was quite a few years back. The coarse is much the same as the non restricted. Most Outfitters sell handguns. Just ask. In Manitoba you have to be a member of a gun club and have the RPAL to buy handguns. You also have to get an Authorization to Transport. I hope that answers your questions. This only Manitoba for other provinces I'm not sure.
