I am awaiting the arrival of my RPAL in the next couple days, but I'm at a loss at what comes next. Does the process to acquire a restricted gun differ from the one I'm used to for non-restricted?

I'm in Ontario, and I'm currently getting my range membership in order. Will I be able to purchase a restricted prior to getting my membership sorted out?

I've heard different things at different times and I'd like some clarity from the people around here who have a pretty good handle on what to expect. :ar15:

Once your license comes in you can buy away while looking for a range. I purchased 2 handguns in the time its taken for my range att to come through , I can now finally take them out tonight and have some fun :).

Thanks!! I "thought" this was the case, but I didn't want to just go ahead without checking from someone who's been through it.

My RPAL came about 2 weeks ago.. today I ordered a Norinco M93. Yesterday I ordered a Norinco NZ85b, last friday I ordered a Walther P1.. all from different vendors on the website.. No range membership yet.. Buy away!

Sometimes they ask for your gun club affiliation, in this case you provide them with gun club name you intend to join.

Where did you order online from if you don't mind me asking? I found a pistol on Cabela's site that I was all set to pull the trigger on (pardon the bad pun) that is the same as what my BIL owns and had the chance to try at his club as a guest that I found as a good entry level pistol for myself. When I got to the checkout it then asked for my Club and member number. I have not found a club yet that but am still looking so I phoned their customer service and explained to them that I have not found a club yet and in so many words they said too bad we can't sell you one unless you belong to a gun club. I am also in Ontario and have always assumed that you can own a handgun with your RPAL and need to have a club membership to use it which I see is correct by answers given here. Has anyone else dealt with Cabela's and had this problem and were you able to get around it with them?
