Fellows, I wrote this to an Ottawa lawyer today after attending the Montreal gun show today. Looking for opinions. Thanks.
Dear Mr. F,
Back mid November 2013 I put in my application for my PAL and RPAL.
I have no criminal record nor have ever been arrested for anything. My record is perfectly clean.
So, my application was all approved by the RCMP before Christmas and is now in the hands of the Quebec CFO (SQ).
Again, I have no outstanding tickets nor warrants or complaints against me. My wife OK'd my application and co-signed it.
Today was a gun show on the south shore of montreal. The SQ takes a table there for information. So I asked them now that they have my application for final approval, about how long it takes? They told me about 45 days depending on my background check, which is clean. They did ask me if I had any warrants or even outstanding tickets, which is no. Why would an outstanding ticket (non DUI) hold back an RPAL?
However, does this apply to business as well? I own a small graphics company and the company owes the Qc government about $3000 in deductions at source payments, according to them. My father looked after the finances until his passing summer 2011, and according to his records and bank statements it was all paid. Current DAS payments, both federal and provincial are up to date.
Could the Qc CFO delay or refuse my RPAL for a company issue? It is a federally incorporated company.
Any help or opinion would be helpful.
Thanks
