I'm shocked.

My application to renew my PAL/RPAL landed in Miramichi on the 10th and today it's already been processed and shipped out.

I knew the Ontario CFO was fast, but not this fast. Maybe they got their arses together and decided to burn through applications before the holidays?

Anyway, I'm stoked to see things moving quick.

Interesting, the friendly french gal I talked to on the phone today while verifying a pal said they were still opening mail from November. Do renewals get forwarded straight to the provincial CFO?

I'm thinking this is the case. The RCMP looks at referrals and does a check on you if you're applying for the first time, but not if you're simply renewing your license. The CFO does renewals.

In either case, anything that goes to Miramichi usually takes a month, minimum, if not longer.

I also renewed via online, so there was zero mail time for me. I submitted the web app on the 10th and now my renewal is on my way to me. Unreal.

Maybe the proposed legislation to enact a grace period after license expiry was a wake-up call. When politicians are saying "Hey, it takes sooooo long to renew a license that we need to change the law," then maybe it's time to start renewing licenses in less than a few months."

I just sent mine to Miramichi. Thats the address on form i filled out. It was just a renewal. Are you saying i sent it to wrong place and it should of went to CFO.

Just checked thier application address again, its Miramichi. Must be online that go to CFO?

Everything goes to the RCMP in Miramichi, it's the RCMP that doils out to the provincial CFO's to get the stamp of approval for firearms licenses, transfers, etc, but it all eventually goes back to the RCMP since they're running the firearms program in Canada.

Do it on-line. Much faster. Just have a pic ready to upload. My 7 year old took my photo! sent it in. approved in a few days, got it back (rpal) within 10 days to my door.
