I have had my PAL for a year now and have just taken my RPAL :) its being sent today by express post. Can any one give me an idea on what the latest wait times are to Receive my RPAL?

Hit and miss considering the coming holidays. I would say 45-60 days at this point. Waiting time seems to be the longest specially if you are now ready to get you 1st restricted firearm. In the meantime, relax.... If you cannot wait for your RPAL and you have a deal that you cannot resist, some stores will take your order and hold it for you until your RPAL arrives. Goodluck!

I just went through this and received my card yesterday :)
Even though you currently have a PAL, applying for an RPAL is the same as applying for a new licence. You'll have a 28 day waiting period that will start on the day that they receive your application :(

Here's how long it took me...

Ontario

Restricted Pal
Course completed on September 9th.
Received stamped test results on September 28th.
Application sent "Xpresspost" on September 28th and tracking shows delivered Oct 1st.
Application is now online "Oct 28" and shows that it was recieved on Oct 1st.
Visa charged on Oct 28th.
Had a reference call in on Oct 30th.
Licence issued on Nov 4th.
Card in hand on Nov 16th.

Thank you for your feedback. I am reading Canadian gunnutz daily getting more and more excited of owning a hand gun to shoot at the range.
I have narrowed my first gunpurchase to the following
SP9, this is my wife's choice she finds it has a softer recoil when shooting
Glock 17
Bersa thunder Pro
Tauras PT92
Walther PPX

Just need some time shooting these before we buy

You got it right.... try as many pistols before you buy. Do not go impulse buying because of a good review. Your good review could be sub-par for me.

They call all provided references. About a month in I called the CFO and they were just going to begin calling references, so I got both of mine to call in and supposedly it made it quicker for me.

I had only one reference call them instead of waiting for them to call and it was approved the next day.

I just went through this and it's literally a 3 min call. If you call to check on your status they can give you the extension for your reference to call to speed it up. Make sure they have all the necessary information like your application number, but if you call they will tell you everything they will need. Only need one reference to call and as long as your t's are crossed and i's dotted it won't be to long.

Thanks alot for the info....
I decided to call and check and turns out they tried my references last week. No answers. They advised one could call. So I asked one of them and it was indeed a 3 minute call. She said after that my application would be sent to CFO in NS for final approval....
I'll have to check status over next few days...

Darn! I am taking my RPAL next weekend. I've had my PAL for many years. I was hoping it would be a quicker turn-around this time. :( So I have to do the full application, including photo, references, etc? Kind of a bummer.
