RPAL waiting period

Hi everyone, If im posting this in the wrong area I'm sorry. This weekend i passed my canadian firearms safety course as well as my restricted saftey course. I was wondering how long The wait is to receive my license once i send my application out. any help would be appreciated.

message 2 weeks after the 45 days were up. They received the application on August 12th.

I called the CFC and they put me through to the Provincial Office. They were hugely helpful and after asking a few questions approved me.

I got my RPAL in the post today 2 weeks after calling them!
 
It took me about 6-7 weeks for me to get my license. I used the time very productively by trying to figure out which gun I'm going to buy and all the accessories that I'm going to get for it. By the time my license arrived I was quite an "expert".
 
I got mine a couple weeks ago, it took just over 2 months. After 45 days I gave them a call who said it was at the Alberta CFO's office, so I called them, they looked at it right there and then and approved it and said it would be 2 more weeks, and it was.
 
Again, thank you all for the help, and just like you K-2 I'm doing my homework . I plan on getting a handgun because I will be pursuing a career in law enforcement and would like to get more familiar with them, however I also wish to target shoot with an AR or SIG 556, i don't know which to go for first. So i have alot of research ahead of me. Just out of curiosity, what was your final choice?

What Province are you in?

If Ontario, the course instructor sends your results to the CFO and you must wait for them to send you a stamped copy of your course reports to send with your application. The time it takes for you to get them varies. I got mine in around 9 days, some I know have waited 4 weeks.

Then you sned application, course reports, pic and payment of to RCMP. Send it express or registered so you have a tracking number. There is a 28 day mandatory cooling off period from the day they receive your application. During that time they will do your reference calls and call you. If all goes well, you should have your card within 45 days of them receiving the app.

Just looking at my records, their website showed me being approved and the licence being issued on day 29, and I had it in my hands on day 34.

Not to be the party pooper but mine took 6 months. I made several phone calls and no one could seem to help me find the information and at times they didn't even know who I was even though I gave all the proper info over the phone.

Be patient is the only advice I can give and hopefully everything is in its place.
 
I'm still waiting to get my test results back from the CFO. Sent in over 3 weeks ago. Not looking forward to 6 months as above. Wish they would take the time for waiting for my test results as part of the 28 day cooling off period. All I'm trying to do is get my dad's guns out of my mom's house since she feels uncomfortable with them there without him to look after them.
 
Not sure at all of what I'm saying but
Isn't the 556 non-restricted? maybe I just saw something that looked like one and took for granted... look in tactical rifles section from frontier firearms (banner up there)
Would've liked to get this as my first weapon!:D

so what does this mean for me.. alot of waiting?? its been about 5weeks already since ive sent everything

If it hasn't come with in the time specified, call them right away. I waited paitently only to call them 2 months later to find out they didn't (somehow) have my house number. They corrected this and had it shipped right away, had it a few weeks later. Moral of the story, they wont contact you if there is a problem, they wait for you to call.
 
wow 28days ontario.... not badddddd.. 2weeks get my license in the mail and ill be officially broke buying guns before jan 21st (obama inauguration)
