So who thinks the RCMP will actually get around to classifying this gun any time soon ?
I'm glad I got out of the deal & I know others have got refunds .
Should be interesting to see how this FRT plays out with the current reclassifying going on .
I don't think the RCMP have a case to prohibit it right now so they will just sit on the classification.
They have done it before

I am curious to see what the CPC pulls out of their sleeve (if anything) with this classification crap. Like I think that guns should default be NR unless the RCMP in a reasonable timeframe ie: a month can prove them as Restricted or Prohib. That would eliminate this indefinite waiting BS they pull and the easy to convert theory would be shot out of the water if they cant make it go full retard in a month with a sophisticated lab.

so, are you suggesting we give up hope, jump ship, kill the dream?
Heck, they probably think they can re-class anything with a bureaucratic magic wand.
What good can come of debating this pending FRT classification?
All we can do is wait and see.

In average, how much time do they take to classify a firearm ?

What was the longest ?

What was the shortest ?

It could be huge for the RPD crowd to have a change in the classification system. Not that it should need it, but just even to make it more timely.

Everyone that has a preorder really should be writing MPs and pushing for change. Otherwise who knows what could happen.

It will be non restricted. Unless the law is changed for the worse.

I don't doubt that fenceline, but I never deal in absolutes

Well the law is pretty clear in this regard. Unless it is changed, it will be non restricted.

It isn't a variant of a firearm prohibited by OIC. The receiver isn't from a converted auto or made from any part of a converted auto. It isn't easily convertible to full auto as tested by the BATF who the RCMP lab parallels in all other classifications in this regard.

So with those points in mind as being the methods in which it can be classed as prohibited, it will be non restricted. Unless the law changes.

You are right !
It can only be non restricted .
Now all you have to do is get the RCMP to agree with you .
lol

I like this!
All firearms are Non-R unless proven to be otherwise within one month.
Two seconds with a tape measure for short barrels, etc
A few days for more technical decisions...

Exactly. An intern can measure the OAl and a barrel for NR vs. Rest and you have a month to make it go FA or prove it is a prohib beyond a shadow of a doubt. Can't prove it is Rest or Prohib in 30 days? Bam . NR FRT.

I think the RCMP is fillibustering/otherwise delaying in the hopes of a liberal government getting power next year.

I lost track of it, but I think the GSG STG 44 was at 2 or 3 years waiting for classification wasn't it?

Hahahhhhahaha - that would be amazing. The law after all does say "Easily modified" so one month should be more than enough. They'd naturally say they're short staffed, that they don't have the resources, that reasons X Y and Z are out of their control and the stars aren't in quite the right alignment for it to happen :p

Honestly though, even a 2 month decision period with IN DEPTH explanation on how the decision was made would be great. I mean after all - it's prohib'ed.... there won't be any in Canada anyways! And if it's easily converted, then people will figure it out without them, so it's pretty laughable when they won't elaborate due to "public safety"
