- First, the ProMags are $26.00 US (see the ProMag website for confirmation). At currency exchange right now that's $31.20 Canadian
A quick search and I found mags for $14 at accurateoptics. This took all of 30 seconds, I might have found them cheaper if I looked around longer.
- Second, there are costs involved to get the magazines "pinned" for importation to Canada
- Third, there are costs to get the export permits to be able to export the magazines from the US to Canada.
- Fourth, there are costs to actually ship the magazines to Canada, clear them through Customs, etc.
- Fifth, there was considerable cost involved, and over 6 months spent, getting approvals and classification confirmation from CFC and the RCMP to allow these magazines to be imported and sold in Canada
- The cost of the magazines consists of more than just the base unit itself... please don't forget that.
My stating a price wasn't an attack on your pricing. I was merely giving the price as I recalled. Thank you for correcting me on ProMags MSRP. Ask me if I think Colt 9mm mags are worth over $200 and I'll tell you no friggin' way.
The polymer magazines work very well and are widely used, here and in the US. Bushmaster ships the polymer magazines with all of their 9mm pistols and rifles.
So what? Bushie Carbon pistols have a less than stellar rep as well. Just because a company uses them doesn't mean that they are any good. I've seen these mags in person and was less than impressed. They just looked like cheap crap to me, but all reports that I've heard say that they work OK.
The C-Products magazines are Stainless Steel and they are lanced. As of a week ago DFAIT refused to issue an import permit for them stating they are classified as "Prohibited Devices"... They are NOT approved for 10 rounds here in Canada.
