RRA Pistols

Here's a question for you guys:

Can a RRA "Pistol" be re-classed as a "Restricted Rifle" if a buttstock is placed on it?

If not, is there a reason behind it? Are there any other requirements that would need to be met in order to have it qualify as a rifle?

Why would you want to qualify it as a restriced rifle! Restricted is restricted I don't see how it would make a difference.

AR-15 variant = Restricted.

Not sure what difference it would make under Canadian law if it was Restricted rifle or pistol.

What I am worried about is a handgun ban.

I was thinking that if there was a ban, having it classed as a rifle may save it, even though it is restricted.

I think if you read the fine print (so to speak) in any of the ban proposals, the proponents are thinking in terms of banning all restricted and prohibited firearms.
