This past weekend I attended Peet's RSA Rifle Reloading Course in Oakville and I thought I'd do a quick review.
First of all let me begin by saying Peet is a gentleman and a professional. He is passionate about firearms and reloading and it comes across easily in his manner of instruction. He has decades of reloading experience as well as formal training as a teacher/professor. His teaching methods were effective and easy to follow for a brand new reloader like myself.
The course started off promptly at 845am and began with introductions from fellow students in his classroom. The classroom is very well laid out and every student has access to a single stage press to work on. From there we went on to why we reload as well as some theory on components of a complete cartridge. SAFETY was stressed every step of the way. After a pizza lunch we got on to the practical side of reloading.
Peet was nice enough to allow me to bring 100 once fired 223 brass and get them tumbled in preparation for reloading. I also brought my own components since I wanted to keep the ammo. Peet meticulously covered all stages of reloading, from case prep right down to measuring/inspecting a final cartridge. He also allowed me to try a different powder in my 223 cartridges to compare with the winchester 748 i brought. You can expect a fair amount of 1 on 1 instruction as well and he was more than happy to address questions and to allow students to practice on different types of presses/equipment.
All in all I walked away with an enormous amount of practical knowledge when it comes to SAFE reloading practices. Peet is an engaging, knowledgeable and professional instructor and I highly recommend this and his Handgun Reloading Course to anyone looking to start reloading their own cartridges. I couldn't imaging reloading on my own using a book or watching a youtube video. Thanks Peet and I'll see you on your next Handgun reloading course!
