Anyone have any experience the the RUAG ammo line-up? RUAG claims that their ammo has the same DOPE out to 200 m for Match, Armour Piercing, Medium, STYX and Ball ammo loads.

Has anyone done any independent tests to corroborate this? And does anyone have experience shooting a variety of the ammo past 200 m? Do you need a different DOPE for every different round once you are past 200?

Anyone comments pro or con (besides the obvious about the price/rnd) are welcome.

Thanks.

I used RUAG gp 90 in a 1/7 twist 8 inch barrel. best I could do was 3 inch groups at 100m was able to shoot one inch groups with hornady tap 75 gr, same gun, same day so temp, wind, conditions, shooter were consistent. Not sure if this helps or not. Their 308 may very well be as good as match ammo but the GP 90 (223) is not spectacular it does hit the gongs hard though.

Rocket94,

Please don't take only one report into consideration.

I have shot GP 90 out of 1/10 Classic Greens and my HK MR223 with a 1/7 twists. The ammo has been spectacular in my experience. I shoot under one inch groups with the 1/10 and have shot 6 inch groups at 500 meters with the MR223 (off of the mag in Service Rifle matches). RUAG factory ammo is the most accurate factory loads I have ever shot.

I have RUAG 9mm (124gn) that is the most accurate pistol ammo I've ever fired. I have won the BCRA service pistol title with it twice (I'm listed in the records of the BCRA's web site).

The RUAG .308 ammo is balistically matched for all of there loads. Our snipers have tried it and at 100 meters they make no adjustments when changing from Target to Styx or AP. All under 1 MOA.

I can't vouch for it shooting this well in all guns, but most quality weapons will shoot it very well.

On a side note, one of our local shooters was in Ft. Benning at a international competition a few years back. There was a US Army Marksmanship Team member there that shot a perfect score with RUAG ammo at 300 meters. There was a large crowd watching him shoot. The AMU stated that they are not capable of handloading ammo (with all their money and resources available to them) more accurate than the RUAG .308 match ammo.

ozz, you can buy Ruag ammo at a site sponsor TSE in Calgary.
Rich LPS, great post on the merits of Ruag, I have been wanting to try some in a 308 and 300win mag but haven't. I simply posted my own results with the 63gr gp90 in a 1/7 twist. I do believe in the 1/10 twist it would perform much better, will try it this summer (after all that is what it what is was designed for). Don't want to discourage the OP from using it, just wanted to comment how the gp 90 performed in a 1/7 twist barrel.

I have fired and tested all the types of RUAG you mention. The specialty rounds do exactly what it supposed to..If you have a 100m zero with the 168gr RUAG match, the AP rounds, and STYK will strike with in that MPI. Because its primarly used in LE applications..I dont think I would try to stretch the ranges..The idea is to get close, and deliver with surgical precision. Which this ammo will allow you to do. The AP was excellent with very little deflection off glass, and the STYX, my fav, vaporized watermelons, with little or no secondary projectiles.(STYX is for use in congested areas, crowds, where secondary projectiles are of concern) The 338 Lapua Mag, match and AP works as good as the best out there now..
