Have any of you guys used, or more importantly, reloaded the brass cased ammo sold as RUAG Hungarian Ammotech Inc?

Considering its still available for a bit less than a buck a shot and new brass costs about that much anyway, I really don't mind the investment if its good stuff. But PPU is a pretty sure bet too so I thought I'd ask.

Interested in hearing any experiences! (This will be used in a bolt gun)

I've found it shoots about the same as the PPU FMJ out of a CZ527. It gets very acceptable accuracy in my applicaiton. That being said I've read some people having almost improbably poor accuracy with it.

I haven't started reloading 7.62x39 given the cost of what I still have, so I can't comment on that. The brass looks just as nice as the PPU to my eye.

It passes the magnet test if that is of any concern to you.

Cool, thanks for the info and I appreciate it.

I know what you mean too. A guy can still get by on steel case and buying a box of hunting ammo now and then, I'm just having fun reloading here.

I found it shot slightly better than my commercial S&B out of my cz527. The S&B stuff was also faster. Haven’t shot PPU yet. Better then surplus accuracy wise. Clean shooting. I’ve only reloaded the brass 2x and no issues. I’ve got the stuff that is still boxed as GECO ammo which I believe is still who makes ammo for RUAG.

I have an irrationally high opinion of RUAG. When I hear Swiss small arms or ammunition, I only think of high quality and extremely good manufacturing controls.

I just noticed that RUAG is the parent of MFS, of which I've bought several hundred rounds in .223 SP steelcase. I found it very accurate, prob since I found MFS factory was 'Upgraded' by RUAG when they bought it. MFS produces many calibers and I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of it if I find any.

Ruag geco is awesome and shoots as well as american factory ammo. Better than euro ammo and WAY better than Norinco or even PMC.

I ended up with 3 x bags of 100 new brass for 7.62x39 - label on bag says "RUAG AMMOTEC USA, INC." - headstamps on the brass say "7.62x39 MFS". So, not identified as "made" by RUAG, but "sold" by them. And as posted above, I think head office owner for RUAG USA is in Switzerland. MFS, I think, is in Hungary. I have not tried that brass yet. If I found some at the range, is no "RUAG" on the case at all - for all I know, this brass was made before RUAG had anything to do with that factory.
