I know that under certain circumstances, rubber base pads are legal in production division. Tanfoglio offers base pads for their mags which are IPSC production legal.

Now, obviously production division is very, 'if you upgrade parts they have to be OFM, etc.' However, you are allowed to use third party mags in Production so non-OFM. Is it legal to use NON-OFM basepads on OFM or NON-OFM mags?

Example. I have a tanfo, I want to use rubber base pads. Tanfo pads are something like $22-25 per pad now. IMI defense makes pads that are cosmetically the same but have a hole that allows you to take the mag apart whereas Tanfo pads do not have this hole. These are something like $15 per pad. Obviously saving money is good, but i'm wondering if i'll get in crap for using non-production legal parts, or if this is actually legal to use on actual Tanfoglio mags (that's what I have). Tanks a lot!

It's been a while but I believe that the guns with mag and pad in place still need to fit into "the box". Have you checked the rule book on this?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they only check the firearm's trigger pull on the Ipsc production division during level 3 matches. I installed an alum base pad on my xcalibur magazine and the weight help the mags to drop faster during reloads.

It doesn't have to fit in a box for Production in IPSC, it only has to fit in the box in USPSA.

Base pads and mags can be a different company, no problem.

CZ now ships their Shadows with Mec Gar 19 round mags with the extended base pads to countries which have normal capacity magazine laws. These magazines are perfectly legal in IPSC Production but will get you bumped to Open if you shoot USPSA because they do not fit in the box.
