I purchased this rifle used about a month ago and on the 3rd reload on new Remington cases I had a case separation. Was using 55 g of IMR 4831 and 100 g bullets which I had worked up to with no pressure signs. (been loading this caliber since 1972 with no events) I thought. After this I inspected all the cases and found that white ring on the very first ones. However some WW 270 cases Did the same work with no problems. Actually with H4831. Epps says Remington cases won't last any longer but the first firing (no sizing) produces the ring. The Ruger has very slight movement in the breach block when locked up. So do I send the rifle back or try different cases. Appreciate any comebacks except the ones that say there is more to the story.

, you are getting to max loads , back off to50- 51 -52 grs imr-4831, check for pressure signs , cases separating is a high pressure sign,,are your bullets seated out near the rifling?,, if so seat a bit deeper, or use a length from your reload manuall,,wade,,

Thanks

I hope your right and that's all it is. I don't like going below minimum loads with slow burning powder so I started about 52 grains but those cases had the tell tail ring. This gun won't let be load maximum length. There isn't enough throat.

I have been loading this calibre in this gun for 10 years Haywire. I have never had a problem and that load of yours doesn't sound hot to me at all.

I don't trim my brass until it stretches past the max and it is absolutely necessary.
