this is the link via google- i typed in search "hunting with ruger 303" an it came up first. its a power point? let me know if you guys can see it....i found it interesting how dramatic his group changed

There used to be a gizmo sold that would attach to that arm, rather than drill through it - Hinks Accurizer or something like that. Often done with a hole right through the wood fore-end so that an Allen head wrench could be inserted and the screw adjusted while the rifle was assembled. I never did install one. However, I did put a dab of epoxy on the inside tip of the fore-end and left the attaching screw very loose while the epoxy set - the idea was to create an "up pressure" at that front end of the fore-arm - epoxy formed a "cradle" that the barrel rested in - seemed to work fine on my Ruger #1A in 7x57 - was getting almost all 5 shot 100 yard groups under 1.5" - some 3 shot groups were 1". 150 grain Partitions with RL-19 powder.

I had also read that some benefited by reducing pressure of the wood fore-arm against the front of the receiver - seems to need shimming of that angled attachment screw and a bit if filing on the rear end of the fore-arm - just needed a "hairline" - not really a "gap". I had bought that rifle new in January 2004 - I understand that the "tuning" that these wanted has changed over the years...

Never used a Hicks but heard of them .
However I have used the pressure screw through the hanger system on many of my No.1's and s shim between the hanger and the barrel as well and it has improved some a bit, and others a lot!
One 308 in particular went from over 1.5" down to under 3/4" with just had pressure screw installation .
This is a very good modification and one I always recommend when messing the the No.1 for accuracy !

nah its not a Hicks, its literally a hole in that hangar under the forend, an put a grub screw in there to the barrel, an u adjust the tension turning the grub, he tried it in 2.5x screws, 1.5x screww and then like half a turn an posted a small group...
goes thru it

try google "ahn ruger 1 303 adamjp' an it should be the first to pop up? let me know if it doesnt.
Edit
