Fellas a complete change of direction for WhelanLad this time round, my Summer project is to Dolly up this Ruger 1 303 Brit and turn it into a Real Deal Sambar machine..
I'm talking, Scope mounts and a Leupold VX 2x-7x X 33 Scope and loading my Own, Woodleighs up for it around the 180gr weight and turn this thing into a 'Tweener of the 308 and the 3006!!!

A while ago I put on some Rings off the MKii 77 Ruger, which were Wrong.... just chasing up the Correct scope ring sequence for the Number 1, I need BOTH the same numbered rings , right?

I have a 4 and 5, il chase up another 4 to begin yes?

Thanks!

Yes. Number one rings have to be the same height. Case capacity of the 303 and 308 are virtually identical so the 303, in the Ruger can match the 308 at the same pressures. I have loaded 174's to 2740fps and 215's to 2400 with no issues in a P14; 303 brass seems to be quite strong. My 30-303 Epps, on a Number One, is closer to a 30/06 in capacity and performance is, of course, similar. 180's at 2750, 165's do 2840, 150's do about 3050 fps. I think, in your 303, you should be able to get 180's to just over 2600 easily enough. If you have a Lee Enfield in the house, load the Ruger stuff long enough that it won't fit in the magazine to keep this ammo out of the LE. This is why I decided to go with the Epps cartridge for my Number One; I wanted to be sure I didn't feed one of the Lee Enfields the wrong stuff.

Strong actions. Mine handle maximum loads without any apparent excessive pressure signs. ;)

Ring height:

3-Low Ring, 4-Medium Ring, 5-High Ring, 6-Extra High Ring
