Hello,

I just found out that Ruger made a semi auto .17hmr called the 10/17 but it had a short production run.

I was wondering if any of you have seen one in Canada?

Thanks

Seen conversions, not worth the hassle unless you want to keep it clean to avoid out of battery ignition. Do more reading on rimfire central and other forms. I have a 22wmr volquartsen that works flawlessly. 22 wmr is a better fit/function

It's not JUST about keeping it clean, there is a lot of history with issues with the.17's in semi's to the extent that most of the makers dropped them like hot rocks. Add in ammo issues, with a few bad batches of grass, and you pretty soon start to see why there are so few around. Even the .22 Magnums did not seem to last very long in the Ruger line up.

Case in point, further down the forum here, is an issue with blown out .17M2 cases https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/2352114-A17-M2-and-Hornaday-rounds-boom

Not an isolated event, unfortunately...
