Ruger 10/22 ammo

It all depends on the individual rifle. My 10/22 shoots smaller groups with CCI Green tag than it does with Eley Contact or SK Standard. Best to buy boxes of each type and start shooting groups.

I found my 10/22 likes CCi Minimags the best ... My guess is because Minimags have a higher shoulder on their bullets that contacts the rifling lands quicker than other ammo. So basically getting closer to a match style chamber where the bullet sits in the rifling when chambered.

I had one that LOVED minimags, and the other was 6" groups at 50 yards. The one that didn't like the Minimags (3" at 50 yards) loved federal automatch.

As much as you would like the recommendations, they really come from blind opinion as only your particular 10/22 will tell you what works.

Sorry, I know it's not the answer you're looking for.

Mine...most.
Doesn't like Remington Golden....(bucket of bullets)
Ever barrel will be different by a box of ea. test for yourself.

I have two 10/22's and they are both different.
10/22's are allowed at our 100 meter shoots an everyone uses something different.
You have to try them all under similar circumstances then every thing will change on game day.
Try every different maker and once the best of those is determined try as many lots as possible of that brand.
It really is not much different than testing for BR50 or 100 meter/yard rimfire.

The rifle with a Weaver T-36 at 100 yards was around 1.5" using Federal Match 922A. On game day at 100 meters I had a few outside the 3" scoring ring.

the two i would start with are cci sv and sk+. 10 22 are only so accurate and $20 a box may not be worth it.my 10 22 has a green mountain hb and a few other mods. once i get past sk+ price range the returns start diminishing. 10 22's are not benchrest quality.

Your in a better place than any of us pick something you want to work that you have a whole whack load of one lot and have at it, .22 is a fussy beast if you want tiny groups need to find a lot# your gun likes.

Which of the match brands shoot the smallest groups - Eley/Lapua/SK/RWS?. Not interested in others.

Eley Tenex by a fairly wide margin. Several of the high end Lapua match ammo types were good, but Tenex was significantly better in my 10/22 benchrest rifle.

Really depends what you want to do Peter. 50m and in its mostly all good. Once you stretch out past 100m it starts to make a difference. I’ve had good luck with centerx, but tenex shoots best for me past 100m
