Has anyone ever come across these in action?

Seen this on the Larue website .. Ruger 10/22 Arrow Conversion Kit

About the most fun you can have with a rimfire!
These kits easily convert a Ruger 10/22 rifle into an archery rifle that can fire five arrows within a one-inch group at 50 yards. It only takes a few minutes to remove your 10/22 barrel and replace it with the Airrow assembly (You need a .920"-compatible stock for the conversion kit to fit). Operation is as simple as sliding an arrow inside the shroud, inserting a blank in the chamber...and firing. Arrows go downrange at an impressive 425 feet per second.

Final build is classified as a firearm, so check local laws before ordering. They are currently legal in many U.S. states for hunting during the rifle seasons. This conversion can not fire live ammunition.

Kit Includes:
Barrel Assembly (black)
6 ea camouflaged arrows, with target tips (6-each)
Blanks, 100 pc. Power-Level 6 (Purple)
Blank Insertion Tool
Instruction booklet

Features:
Low Noise
.22 Rimfire Blank
Velocity To 425 FPS / 16" Fletched Arrow
Barrel O.D. .920 (will not fit factory stock)
Capable of firing all Cap-Chur type tranquilizer syringes

Like I said...very cool but no way I would spend that kind of money on it. Add taxes, import fees, ect and your closer the $700...which could get you a top line Excalibur crossbow. Sub $300 taxes in and I would jump on it.

I saw one similiar a few years back. You take a 10-22 barrel and turn it down enough to slide a short arrow over the barrel.

..it's been done,..and for almost nothing.

Why do I have this suspicion that the RCMP will call this a blow gun. And thus prohibited.

Well...you never know with the RCMP...

BUT its being used in a/fired out of a gun, and has to be propelled by a blank...so not really like a "blow gun".

If that is considered a blow gun then what about all the CO2/HPA powered paintball and air soft guns?
