Cuz they’re fun, cheap, stone axe reliable, have massive aftermarket support, etc etc
I think I’m at 6 now in various configurations and I enjoy them all.

I dunno about stone axe reliable. Certainly the one my friend has is not that, it has feed issues and has even had at least one OOB detonation.

From what I've seen online and in person, the 10/22 is great IF you want to slap aftermarket stuff onto it, but there are better options if you just want to buy a gun and plink (Personally I went with a Marlin 795 and I am looking to get a Winchester Wildcat or Marlin Papoose next, the fact the Ruger doesn't have a last round hold open is a real drawback for me, not to mention the questionable legality of hi-cap magazines.) I expect a 10/22 will end up in my locker eventually, but probably not before I have the spare money to upgrade it a bunch (Or I'll just go straight to a 10/22 clone like the DAR or whatever Spectre ballistics calls theirs...)

I hope Ruger re-starts Marlin rimfire production, it would be a shame for them to kill the 795 and Model 60 just because they are better guns out of the box than the 10/22 lol

Too each his own…but customer demand drives markets and decides what stays in production or doesn’t. I’d have to say there’s a strong majority of people that prefer the 10/22 over others if the aftermarket is any indication. Based only on my personal experience I’m in the 10/22 camp, and I’ve had no issues with reliability. Admittedly I’ve never even handled the Marlins nevermind shot them, so I can’t objectively compare.

Never had a problem with my take-down and at least 1500 rounds down the barrel, hated the safety until I found a hack to grind it open and don't have to fight the safety on or off.
and with the backpacker always have the mags with it. fits great in my knapsack can't wait for the backpacker for my PC 9mm.

i have never had issues with 10/22, not sure why some people have, like many other things they are not as nice as the uses to be .
but still the #1 selling semi 22 rifle in history
